COLUMBUS (WRBL) – Dirt is moving and plans are in place for a prime piece of north Columbus real estate.
Work has started on a three-building restaurant, retail, and office development at the intersection of Veterans Parkway and Cooper Creek Road near Northside High School.
Jigar Shah, a partner in Surkar Development, said the first piece of the project is a Pure Taqueria.
The Pure marketing concept is a play off the old gas station. It is a restaurant that is not currently in the Columbus market, however, there are six in the Atlanta area. They specialize in margaritas, tequilas and authentic Mexican fare.
“We will have the groundbreaking at the end of March, beginning of April,” Shah said. “We plan on opening up at the end of fall as of right now.”
Woodruff Brokerage will handle the leasing of the complex.
“Once the restaurant comes on board the fourth quarter of this year, we’ll have two other buildings going up for retail use or office use here at Maple Village,” said Woodruff’s Scott Boyce.
This project has been on hold for more than a year as the developers waited for the road work on Veterans Parkway to be completed. It is a busy area near three schools, multiple apartment complexes and at back entrance to Maple Ride subdivision.
Shah is a partner in the sports bar, convenience store and liquor store across Cooper Creek Drive from the new development.
